Eminem - Drugs

Eminem also known as Marshall Bruce Mathers III, is known for his addiction to prescription drugs. I did some research on it and it claims that he was once addicted to Vicodin, Ambien, Valium and Methadone. This does not make him a bad person. If you take a look into his past, his mother was a drug abuser and that can have a very huge impact on a child’s life. I also saw some interviews which show him under the influence. This was very sad to see, because it shows the influence that someone’s childhood environment can have on their future. Regardless from the fact that he is very wealthy, he still ends up in the same predicament his mom set example for. He claims that he is sober now and I am very thankful for that. It would be a tragedy to see such a waste of talent thrown down the drain.

Eminem - White Rapper

Eminem is respected by so many people throughout the world, and not just for his uncanny ability in rapping. He represents living proof that color does not matter in any craft. It is debatable to put him in the top 3 rappers to ever live. That is not just my opinion; many different surveys taken show the same results. Eminem is respected by almost every African American rapper, despite the stereotype that only black people can rap. I love how when he raps he is not trying to portray someone that he is not. Eminem deals with real life issues that occurred throughout his lifetime and ones that many can relate too. This is why he is so respected and always will be, at least in my eyes.

Eminem - How come

“Now I feel the vibe I just can’t describe it, as much as your pride tries to hide it, your cold, your touch it’s like ice in your eyes it’s the look of resentment, I can sense it, and I don't like it.” That line touched me when I decided to look up the lyrics to this song. It brought me back to my own personal experiences with a close friend of mine. This whole song I can relate too, because I’m sure everyone has had a friend they have lost that they were very close with. He expresses the feelings and emotions dealing with betrayal. It is not a pleasant feeling and I know from firsthand experience. This is why I chose this song because I can relate to it.

Cleaning out the closet - Eminem

This song is very powerful and disturbing at the same time. The average person would assume that Eminem is a bad person for verbally degrading his mother the way he did in this song. However, it is better to look at both sides of the stories before judging him. I believe that he had a traumatic childhood experience with his mom. One of the lines in the song he states, “Now I would never diss my own momma just to get recognition. Take a second to listen for who you think this record is dissing, but put yourself in my position; just try to envision witnessing your momma popping prescription pills in the kitchen.” This brought me to the assumption that his mom was a drug abuser. Personally, I would never disrespect my own mother the way he did. It is good to put yourself in other people’s shoes and try to understand why someone else would feel the need too. This is one of my favorite songs by him.
